TANGIER

Tangier, the dazzling white-walled city known as the “Door of Africa,” rests at the northern tip of the continent, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea on the Strait of Gibraltar—between Europe and Africa, less than 10 miles from the Spanish coast.

Tangier exudes romance, creativity and mystery with its natural beauty, blend of multi-cultural influences, lush gardens, Bohemian style and Moorish architecture. It has long attracted artistic, literary and design legends - among them Yves Saint Laurent, Pierre Bergé, Paul Bowles, Francis Bacon, and Henri Matisse—along with a fascinating history of diplomatic intrigue and espionage.

Over six enchanting nights and five full days, you’ll embark on a journey into the heart of Tangier’s creative soul guided by a beloved local expert.  Beyond Tangier’s bustling medina and historic façades, its most captivating treasures reside discreetly behind closed doors - within the private sanctuaries of world-renowned designers and tastemakers.

Experience tranquility in Tangier’s most exquisite private houses and gardens with each one telling a story of creative vision, aesthetic, architecture, craftsmanship, culture and community. You’ll be welcomed into their intimate worlds while enjoying beautifully prepared Moroccan meals offered with heartfelt hospitality. This is a rare, immersive experience seen through the lens of design, culture, and authentic connection.

Properties and hosts visited will include - but are not limited to:

  • Gazebo, Veere Grenney

  • Dar Ouazzane, Gordon Watson

  • Tabarek Allah, Umberto Pasti

Each morning will begin with yoga led by Adil Rida, a global master teacher of Ashtanga, Yin, and Bikram amidst the serene beauty of Fairmont Tazi Palace and Jasper Conran’s exquisite Villa Mabrouka. Optional hikes invite you to explore breathtaking coastal trails and fragrant, jasper-scented mountain paths.

Strolling the labyrinthine streets of the medina with a trusted local guide, you will discover Tangier’s rich cultural tapestry: the American Legation, St. Andrews English Church and Moshi Nahon Synagogue, vibrant galleries, boutiques, and ateliers of skilled artisans in plaster, ceramics, textiles, woodwork, rattan and straw.

You will leave feeling transformed and inspired by the timeless magic of one of the most alluring cities.
